세상에 이런 천인공로할, 인륜을 배반한 사건들이, 이번 코로나바이러스 전염병으로, 소설속에서나 볼수 있었던 상상도 못할 일들이 세계 도처에서 발생하고 있는데....그내용을 보면 일면 수긍이 가기도 하지만...
요즘 유럽은 Covid-19전염병의 지옥으로 변했다. 독일,이태리, 영국, 프랑스, 스페인 그외 유럽 여러나라들리 방향을 잃고 헤매고 있는 와중에, 오늘 아침에는 인륜의 도덕적차원에서는 도저히 상상할수도,있을수도 없는 일이, 스페인의 양로원에서 일어나, 이뉴스를 보는 모든 사람들을 경악케 하고 말았다.
걷잡을수없이 퍼져나가는 Coronavirus Pandemic이 이웃들과의 관계를 완전히 부셔 버렸다는 생각뿐이다. 모든 나라들이 꼭 필요한 경우, 예를 들면 먹거리를 구입하기위해 문밖 출입을 허용하는것을, 제외하고 거의 강제적으로 통제하게 되면서, 사람들은 스트레스가 더쌓이고, 쇼핑갔던 사람들 사이에도 Argument, 또는 Altercation이, 전에는 거의 보지 못했던 사고들이 일어나는 경우를 자주보게 된다. 오늘 아침에도 나는 Costco Market에 달걀과 Grape seed Oil한병을 구입하러 갔었는데, 어느 한여인이 한품목을, 내가 생각해도, 사재기의 목적으로 카트에 잔뜩싣고, 캐쉬대에 섰는데, Casher가 한개 이상은 안된다고 설명하자, 그여인은 수긍하지 않고, 안내문도 없었는데...라고 하면서 Argument가 있는것을 봤었다. 그녀는 결국 많은 쇼핑객들의 눈살을 찌뿌리게 하는것으로 끝났었지만...
이렇게 사재기를 보는것은 나로서는 처음겪는 난리같은 광경이었는데... Coronavirus Pandemic이 가져다준 Side affection이었다. 이러한 재앙이 지금 유럽에서 처참할 정도로 매시간마다 일어나고 있는데, 오늘은 스페인에서 벌어지고 있는 참극을 보도한 BBC 뉴스를 보면서....재앙앞에서는 노인과 젊은이, 여자와 남자의 구분없이, 동물의 세계에서 처럼 강자와 약자사이에서 일어나는 강자독식의 법을 피할수 없다는것을 보면서, 어서 하루라도 빨리 지나가야 할텐데...그생각뿐이었었다.
내가 출석하는 교회에서 카톡이 어제 왔는데, 슬픈 소식이었다. 나이 많으신 원로 장로 한분이 돌아가셨다는 소식과, 장례식은 여건상 문상객없이 가족들만으로 치러진다는 내용이었다. 기독교 장례의식에서는 인간적으로는 슬프지만, 우리가 믿는 하나님이 계시는 영원의 나라로 여행을 떠나기에 일종의 축제 일수도 있는 믿음으로 찬송가도 부르고, 엄숙한 축제의 분위속에서 장례식이 치러지는데, 가족들만이 치러진다니..
Coronavirus Pandemic의 여파가 너무도 크다.
유럽 여러나라중에서 현재 스페인은 이태리 다음으로 겁잡을수 없이 퍼지는 Coronavirus의 확장을 막기위해 이제는 의료진만으로는 인력이 부족하여, 군대를 동원하여 그들로 하여금, 한 양로원의 노인들과 환자들을 돕기위해 투입됐는데, 병사들이 그곳에서 노인한자들이 버려진채로 있었고, 또 다른 곳에서는 환자들이 죽은채로 침대에 방치 되여있었다는참극을 국방부가 발표한 것이다. 스페인의 검찰은 이참상을 조사하기위해 조사에 착수했다고 한다. 지금 수도 마드리스에 있는 한 아이스 스케이트장은 Covid-19Pandemic으로 사망한 시체들을 모아두는 임시 영안실로 이용하고 있다고 정부 관계자가 발표했다.
보건당국의 설명에 의하면 보통상황에서 사망자의 시체는, 장례식장의 관계자가 와서 시체인수를 해갈때까지, 냉장고에서 보관하고 있다라고 설명한다. 그러나 Coronavirus Pandemic으로 사망자가 발생했을때는 침상에 그대로 보관시키고, 장비를 갖춘 장례식장의 스탶들이 시체처리를 할때까지 기다린다. 스페인의 수도 마드리드는 현재 Coronavirus Pandemic으로 사망자가 가장 많아서 이를 처리하는데 약 24시간이상이 걸릴수도 있다고 당국은 설명한다.
스페인 보건장관, Salvador Illa씨는 뉴스기자회견에서 양로원 관리는 정부정책의 첫번째 순위에 있다."양로원에 대한 관리감독에 대한 모니터링 가장 우선적으로 한다."라고 설명한다.
마드리드의 상황이 최악으로 달하자, 마드리스 시내에 있는 장례식장들은 발표하기를, Coronavirus Pandemic에 대한 장비부족으로 Covid-19전염병으로 사망한 사람의 시체는 화요일부터 일체 수거해 가지 않을 것이라고 발표했다.
현재 스페인에서 Coronavirus Pamdemic으로 발생한 사망자수는 2,696명이고, 확진자수는 39,637명이다.
한편 이태리 당국자들은 설명하기를 월요일 하루동안에 Covid-19으로 사망자수는 602명이고, 확진자수는 6,077명이다. 그러나 확진자수는 목요일부터 적어지기 시작해서, 정부의 강력한 규제조치가 효과를 보기시작하는것으로 일망의 희망을 갖게 하고 있다.
우리가 살고 있는곳에서는 이러한 참극이 일어나지 말아야 할텐데....
Spanish soldiers helping to fight
the coronavirus pandemic have found elderly patients in retirement homes
abandoned and, in some cases, dead in their beds, the defence ministry
has said.
Spanish prosecutors said an investigation had been launched.
The military has been brought in to help disinfect care homes in Spain, one of Europe's worst hit countries.
Meanwhile, an ice rink in Madrid is to be used as a temporary mortuary for Covid-19 victims, officials said.
The virus is spreading very fast in Spain - the second worst-hit European country after Italy.
On Tuesday, the health ministry announced that the number of deaths had risen by 514 in the past 24 hours - a daily record.
A total of 2,696 people have now died and there are 39,637 confirmed cases.
Spanish Defence Minister Margarita Robles told the
private TV channel Telecinco that the government was "going to be strict
and inflexible when dealing with the way older people are treated" in
retirement homes.
"The army, during certain visits, found some older people completely abandoned, sometimes even dead in their beds," she said.
The defence ministry said that staff at some care homes had left after the coronavirus was detected.
Health
officials have said that in normal circumstances the bodies of deceased
residents are put in cold storage until they are collected by the
funeral services.
But when the cause of death is suspected to be
linked to coronavirus they are left in their beds until they can be
retrieved by properly equipped funeral staff. In the capital Madrid,
which has seen the highest number of cases and deaths, that could take
up to 24 hours, officials said.
Spanish Health Minister Salvador
Illa told a news conference that retirement homes were "an absolute
priority for the government".
"We will exercise the most intensive monitoring of these centres," she added.
As
the crisis in Madrid worsened, the city's municipal funeral home said
it would stop the collection of Covid-19 victims from Tuesday because of
a lack of protective equipment.
The city is to use a major ice
rink, the Palacio de Hielo (Ice Palace), as a temporary mortuary where
bodies will be stored until funeral homes can collect them, officials
told Spanish media.
The Palacio de Hielo complex, which also includes shops, restaurants,
a bowling alley and cinemas, is not far from the Ifema congress centre
where a field hospital has been set up for coronavirus patients.
Spain
is the second worst affected country in Europe after Italy, which now
has the highest number of coronavirus-related deaths in the world.
Italian authorities said on Monday that 602 people with Covid-19 had died in the past 24 hours, bringing the total to 6,077.
But
the daily increase was the smallest since Thursday, raising hope that
stringent restrictions imposed by the government were starting to have
an effect.
