NATO정상회담후의 뒷얘기, 맏형이 도와준것은 다잊고,투정만 부리는 철없는 동생같은 정상들의 TeaParty.

NATO 정상회담이 끝난후, 버킹험 궁전에서 있었던 비공식 Snack Party에서, 불란서, 캐나다, 영국을 포함한다른 나라의 정상들이 모여 주고 받은 농담에서 트럼프 대통령을 성토, 비난하는 얘기들로 꽉 찼었다는 뉴스 보도를 봤다.

트럼프 대통령은, 미국의 전임 대통령들과는 다르게, 경제적 규모에서 맏형역활을 해오면서, 미국의 지분을 넘어서 퍼주기만 하던식의 동맹국과의 회담에서, 이제는 각나라는 특히 NATO동맹국들의 정상들에게 적정한 NATO운영을 위한 비용을 현실화 시켜 달라는 강한 주문을 해왔었던 것으로 이해하고있었다.

한가정에서 태어난 형제들의 경우에 비교해 본다.
아직 모든 신체적, 경제적, 정신적으로 사회생활을 능력껏 할수 없을때, 맏형이 동생들을 경제적인 여건을 포함하여 홀로 설수 있도록 도와주고, 성장하여 우뚝서서 사회생활을 할수있게 돼고, 또 나쁜옆동네의 사람들로 부터 불의의 공격이나 괴로움을 당할 경우를 대비해서, 맏형을 중심으로 형제자매들은, 보안문제를 위해 굳은 동맹을 맺어 서로가 협심하여 걱정없이 살아갈수 있도록, 경비도 서로 부담하면서 살아왔는데, 오랜 세월을 지나면서, 동생들은 그런 비용부담마져도 또 맏형에게 많이 의지하여 왔었다. 이제는 더이상 참을수 없어, 맏형은 매년 해왔던관행데로, 이번 모임에서 동생들에게 "너희들 경제적 형편에 맞게 경비를 공동 부담하라"라는 불평섞인 Fair Play를 요구한것이다.

그런데 동생들은 맏형이 할일이 많은것도 있었지만, 동생들의 형에 대한 자세가 불편하여, 회담후 Tea Party참석못하고, 바로 집으로 되돌아간 사이 그들끼리 모여서 뒷얘기를 하면서,맏형에 대한 고마움은 잊은채,  불평과 비난을 한마디씩, 어떤 동생은, 귀속말로 희득거리면서, 대화를 나눈 내용이 염탐꾼들에 의해 세상에 알려져 버린것이다.  


나는 이런식으로 NATO회원국들에 대한 평가를 내려보았다.  세계 2차대전이후, 다 망해 잿더미밖에 없었던 유럽의 재건을 위해 미국은 "Mashall Plan"까지 세워 경제적 지원을 해주었었다.  한국은 한국동란이후 오늘에 이르기까지 미국의 경제적 군사적 원조로 살아남아 지금은 경제적으로 성장, 세계 20대 국가군에 우뚝 서 있다. 좋은것, 나쁜것에 대해 구별은 하되, 혜택을 받은것에 대해서는 고마움을 표할줄 아는 우리 인간 사회가 됐으면 하는 마음이다. 나의 생각을 간략히 표현해 본 것이다.

In a video shared by the Canadian Broadcasting Company (CBC), Trudeau, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, and French President Emmanuel Macron are seen with others, including Princess Anne, having a conversation at a reception at the Buckingham Palace about a press conference earlier in the day.
Trump had made an impromptu conference and weighed in on the ongoing impeachment inquiry as well as the fiery exchange he had with Macron over France not taking back any ISIS fighters.
"Is that why you were late?" Johnson smirked to Macron.
"He was late because he takes a 40-minute press conference off the top — 'Oh, ya, ya ya,'" Trudeau said, later adding, "You just watched his team's jaws drop to the floor."

The video went viral on social media, many assuming the world leaders were talking about Trump.
"Can’t get over this video, both for the fact that POTUS hates the thought of anyone laughing at him and for the fact that he long used “other countries are laughing at us” as an attack against his predecessors," New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman reacted.
"This happens at every NATO summit with Trump. Every G7. Every G20. The US President is mocked by US allies behind his back," political commentator Ian Bremmer wrote.

Earlier, Macron and Trump clashed over ISIS fighters.
“I have not spoken to the president about that — would you like some nice ISIS fighters?” he asked Macron, when asked about ISIS fighters from Europe captured in Syria. “I can give them to you, you can take every one you want.”
After Macron’s answer, in which he urged Trump to “be serious” and called for a broader push against ISIS overall, Trump took another swipe.
“This is why he’s a great politician, because that’s one of the greatest non-answers I’ve ever heard,” Trump joked.
Trudeau was asked about the viral video during a press conference on Wednesday.

"Last night I made reference to the fact that there was an unscheduled press conference before my meeting with President Trump and I was happy to be part of it but it was certainly notable," Trudeau said, admitting the conversation was about Trump.
Trudeau also indicated that his comment about jaws dropping was in regards to Trump’s announcement that next year’s G7 meeting would be at Camp David.
“Every different leader has teams, who every now and then, have their jaws drop at unscheduled surprises, like that video itself for example,” Trudeau said.

미 정치전문매체 폴리티코는 3일 북대서양조약기구(NATO·나토) 정상회의 첫날 도널드 트럼프 대통령의 행보를 이렇게 빗대며 “트럼프 대통령이 영국 선거를 망치고 싶지 않다고 말했지만 그 대신 다른 모든 것을 망쳤다”고 전했다. 폴리티코는 트럼프 대통령이 첫 정상회담 상대였던 에마뉘엘 마크롱 프랑스 대통령을 나토와 함께 비판했고, 예정에 없던 52분간의 기자회견을 한 것을 두고 “미국 대통령이 또 한번 세계 정상과의 무대에서 ‘센터’를 차지하려고 했다”고 보도했다.

이를 입증하듯 이날 행사장에 모인 다른 정상들이 트럼프 대통령에 대한 ‘뒷담화’를 하는 모습이 영상을 통해 공개돼 눈길을 끌었다. 가디언 등 외신에 따르면 이날 저녁 버킹엄궁에서 열린 만찬장에서 보리스 존슨 영국 총리, 쥐스탱 트뤼도 캐나다 총리, 마크롱 대통령은 ‘그(He)’를 지칭하며 농담을 이어갔다.


존슨 총리가 마크롱 총리에게 “‘그것’ 때문에 늦었냐”고 묻자 트뤼도 총리가 끼어들어 “즉석 기자회견이 40분(실제 50여 분)이나 걸려 늦었다”고 대답했다. 마크롱 대통령이 격정적으로 이야기하는 모습이 나오지만 무슨 말을 했는지는 제대로 들리지 않았다. 가디언은 “정상들이 어떠한 이야기를 했는지는 공개되지 않았으나 이 대화는 예정에 없이 기자회견을 한 트럼프 대통령과 관련됐을 수 있다”고 전했다. 트뤼도 총리는 놀랍다는 표정을 지으며 “‘그의’ 스태프들 턱이 바닥까지 떨어질 정도였다”고 말했다. 거침없는 기자회견에 트럼프 대통령의 참모들조차 놀랐다는 뜻으로 보인다.

이 영상은 러시아 인터넷 매체인 스푸트니크 뉴스에서 처음 공개됐다. 이후 정상들의 대화만 편집된 영상을 4일 캐나다매체 CBC가 올렸다. 이미 트럼프 대통령과 마크롱 대통령이 정상회담에서 정면으로 충돌한 뒤여서 더 큰 파장을 낳았다. 

마크롱 대통령이 최근 언론 인터뷰에서 “나토는 뇌사 상태”라고 말한 것을 두고 트럼프 대통령은 회담 전부터 “아주, 아주 못된(nasty) 발언”이라고 비판했다. 특히 “프랑스는 경제 측면에서 좋지 못하다”고 지적하자 마크롱 대통령은 “내 발언이 반향을 일으켰다는 것을 알지만 철회하지 않겠다”고 맞섰다. ‘뇌사 상태’ 발언이 나온 배경 자체가 나토 동맹국의 반대에도 시리아 철군을 강행한 미국의 일방주의 때문임을 강조하면서 팽팽한 긴장감을 드러낸 것. 외신들은 이를 두고 “브로맨스가 악연으로 변했다”고 평가했다.
