Trump 대통령의 3일간 중국방문이 시작됐다. 일본의 Abe, 한국의 문통, 중국의 시진핑, 그리고 당사자인 Trump의 모습을 보면서, 이를 보고있는 나의 느낌이, 각국의 정상들은 외모에서 풍기는 모습이 여유가 있고, 듬직해 보이는데, 어째서 문통만은 그렇게 보이지 않고, 꼭 상하관계에서 Subordinate 역활을 하는 주종관계로 보였을까? 꼭 갓쓰고 양복입은 모양새였다. 나만이 그렇게 느꼈다면, 나의 편견일수도 있다고 하겠지만.....

공항까지 나가서 영접한것도, 외교격식에서 벗어난, 마치 주인이 멀리 출타했다 집으로 되돌아올때, 문밖에서 줄을 서서 기다리는 Subordinate의 연기를 했다. 일본, 중국에서 없었던 연출이었고, 그나라를 방문하는 정상을 맞이하기위해, 초청국의 정상이 공항까지 가서 영접했다는 뉴스는 아직까지, 한국의 문통을 제외하고, 들어본 기억이 없다.
거의 같은 시간, Canada의 Justin Trudeau수상이, 환태평양 정상회담에 참석키위해 월남의 Hanoi공항에 도착했을때의 장면에서도, 월남의 수상은 없었고, 담당의전관들이 부케를 들고 트랩에서 내리는 수상내외를 영접하고 있었다.
시진핑 중국 대통령 복잡한 남북관계에서 오는 긴장감과, 무역 불균형등등의 골치 거리에서 고개를 돌려, 베이징 도착 첫날, 여유롭게 자금성(Forbidden city)탐방을 시작으로, 중국의 오랜 역사에 대한 탐방으로, 긴장감을 풀어가는 여유를 보여준것으로 보였다. 이들 두정상은 몇시간뒤에 벌어질 삽바 싸움을 앞두고, Camouflage를 잘하고 있는 모습을 보면서, 한국의 문통을 잠시 Overlap시켜 보았다.
이들 두정상 부부들은, 자금성내의 박물관을 둘러보고, 오후에는 Tea time을 하면서, 북경 오페라를 관람하는, 겉으로 봐서는 매우 여유롭게 서로간에 잽을 날리는 하루였다고 하겠다.
자금성안의 옛왕이 집무했던 Taihedian의 왕궁앞에서, 기념사진도 찍는 모습은 매우 평온해 보였었다.
오래된 친구가 오랫만에 만나, 가족얘기들을 나누는것 처럼, Trump는 그의 외손녀가 중국어로 노래 부르는 장면을 컴퓨터에서 꺼내 보여주는, 정겨운 모습이, 서울에서의 문통과 시간 보낼때와는 분위기가 완전히 다른, 사무적인 아닌, 진정성이 다분히 담겨있는 모습으로 보여졌다.
트럼프의 국회 연설내용도, 물론 동맹국 한국을 절대로 포기하지 않고 끝까지 지키겠다고 명연설을 한 내용도 깊이 들여다 보면, 미국은 이렇게 너희들을 돕고 있는데, 문통을 비롯한 국회의원들도 미국의 뜻을 깊이 이해하고, 잘 따라와야 하지 않겠느냐? 라는 메세지를 던져 주는것 처럼 느꼈었다.
중국,미국 두정상의 미래를 향한,노련한 삽바싸움을 보면서 조국 대한민국의 문통정부를 또 생각케 한다. 일본제국주의가 저지른 만행을 생각하면, 위안부 문제를 포함하여 중국이 훨씬 더 피해가 크다고 하겠다. 그러나 중국은 일체 과거사에 대한 언급은 없었고, 앞으로의 협력으로 중국이 부강할수 있는 정책제시에 올인했고, 한국은 케케묵은 위안부 문제, 그것도 이미 해결된 것을 붙잡고, 앞날의 이웃관계를 망쳐버리는 유치원생같은 싸움질만 했었다. 과거가 중요한것은 부인할수없는 사항이지만, 영원히 계속될 후손들의 잘사는 앞날이 더 중요하지 않을까? 한국의 문통을 비롯한 정치꾼들은 정신바짝 차리고 이들의 행동을 지켜봐야한다.
두개의 토끼를 동시에 잡을수는 없다. 그렇타면 문통정부가 자리잡고 서야할곳은, 그래서 한국의 앞날에 안심이 될수 있고, 경제적 발전도 지속적으로 유지할수있는, 동맹국은 굳이 설명안해도 훤히 어느 나라인지를 금새 알수 있을것 같다. 제발 문통이 잘 처신하기를 바란다. 특히 APEC 정상회담이 며칠후 월남에서 열리는데....
US President Donald Trump kicked off his "state visit-plus" to China on Wednesday afternoon with a taste of Chinese history and culture.
Both countries expect Trump's first trip to China to be "historic" and generate significant results on bilateral relations as well as issues of common concern. But ahead of the official welcome ceremony and formal talks, the US president spent his first day in Beijing in a casual way.
Chinese President Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan invited Trump and his wife Melania to the Palace Museum, also known as the Forbidden City, where they had an afternoon tea, walked along the museum's central axis, watched the repair of historical relics, and enjoyed Peking Opera.
Built in the early 15th century, the Forbidden City was the imperial palace for China's Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties.
China is the third stop of Trump's five-nation tour in Asia. He previously visited Japan and South Korea and will head to Vietnam and the Philippines later.
A special anniversary for Trump
Wednesday marks the one-year anniversary of Trump's victory at the US presidential election. During their afternoon tea in the Baoyun Building at the Forbidden City, Xi welcomed his US counterpart to pay his state visit to China on the special day.
The Chinese president thanked his guests for their kind reception at the Mar-a-Lago estate when he visited the United States in April and wished them a pleasant time in China. Xi said he believed Trump's visit would achieve "positive and important" results.
Trump congratulated Xi on the successful conclusion of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and his re-election as General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee. He hailed China's achievements in economic development.
With a tablet computer, Trump showed Xi and Peng video clips of his granddaughter, Arabella Kushner, singing in mandarin and reciting a part of the Three-Character Classic and ancient Chinese poems.
Xi spoke highly of the child's Chinese language skills and said her performance deserves an "A+."
Arabella is already a child star in China, said Xi, adding that he hoped she would visit China in the future.
Built in 1915, the Baoyun Building is a Western-style architecture in the former imperial compound. It was used to store antiques, but now serves as an exhibition hall for the museum's history.
Trump immersed in Chinese culture
During the tour of the ancient palace, Xi briefed the American guests on the museum's history, architecture and culture, calling it an important window to understanding Chinese history and culture.
The US president visited Taihedian, Zhonghedian and Baohedian, three main halls of the Forbidden City. Taihedian, the Hall of Supreme Harmony, is one of the largest wooden structures in China and the largest hall in the Forbidden City.
America's first couple also attended an exhibition of antiques and watched the repair of some historical relics at the museum's conservation workshop, known as "the antiques hospital." They were invited to experience a Chinese painting being mounted on a scroll.
Then Xi and Peng entertained Trump and Melania with a Peking Opera performance at the Belvedere of Pleasant Sounds, the largest opera theater in the Forbidden City, initially built during the reign of Emperor Qianlong (1736-1795) to entertain the imperial family members.
With a history of more than 200 years, Peking Opera is one of China's main traditional drama forms and on the UNESCO intangible cultural heritage list. The art combines instrumental music, vocal performance, mime, dance and acrobatics.
Trump thanked Xi and Peng for their hospitality and said he was deeply impressed by the richness of traditional Chinese culture.
The two sides are expected to hold official meetings on Thursday with the Korean Peninsula nuclear issue and China-US trade relations topping the agenda.
